On April 25, 2008, the City of Kansas City, Missouri will host KC Green Summit 2008.

The KC Green Summit 2008 will be held at the Bartle Hall Ballroom, Kansas City's first certified LEED Silver Building. This mission of this collaborative gathering of Kansas Citians is to help create efficient and affordable green solutions for city projects in order to provide greener streets, cleaner air and water, improved property values and green collar jobs for our community. Those interested in attending can register online at www.rainkc.com. The registration fee is $50, however City of Kansas City, Missouri employees and nonprofit participants can attend the event at no charge.

KC GreenSummit special guests include Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II, City Council members, as well as Majora Carter, executive director of Sustainable South Bronx, and experts from the Environmental Protection Agency. The event will include presentations and small group work sessions about best practices in green solutions and green infrastructure, including a panel of City Council members who went to Portland, Oregon recently to see how that city integrated green solutions into their planning process. Local companies and corporations will also be onsite to demonstrate how their organizations are actively engaged in implementing green solutions regionally, including a special "Taste of a Green Region" in which samples of locally grown and organic foods will be available to participants.

Kansas City is determined to be a leader in the emerging public realm of green infrastructure. We are looking to work together with our region's partners, and are developing a new model for how Green Solutions can help Kansas City, Missouri meet regulatory requirements and reduce the amount of polluted stormwater and sewer overflows that pollute our waterways.

Please join us for KC Green Summit on April 25, 2008 as we lay the groundwork to make Kansas City, America's "Green" City.
